As a pre-writing activity, you can note the following information

Sources of Evidence
A rule of thumb is at least one source per page of the paper. Multiple arguments are likely to come from different sources.

Give the writing assignment in MLA/APA format. If you want students to consider the credibility and authority of the source, an annotated bibliography is a good way to do that.

Arguments Found
Hypothesis (argument) and relevant supporting facts
Minimally, there must be one opposing hypothesis and relevant supporting facts for second source.

Interpretation
Based on your interpretation of the evidence, select the argument that is your thesis. As part of your defense of that hypothesis, address the weaknesses of the counter argument.
